Frequently asked questions.
What is the role of a doula?
A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support and advocacy to new parents before, during, and after childbirth to help them achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.
Should I hire a doula if I plan to have my partner with me?
Absolutely! We involve partners by providing guidance on how they can best support you (as oftentimes they are not sure how). We are also able to offer them breaks when needed and help them feel more confident and included throughout your journey together.
What does a typical schedule look like with a postpartum doula?
Depending on your preference and needs, our doula will arrive for a daytime shift of 3-6 hours or an overnight shift between 8-10 hours. We can help with a variety of tasks ranging from assisting with feedings, caring for the newborn so that you can get a shower or rest, education on newborn care, help picking up groceries or prescriptions, light housework, sibling care. We also can provide a listening ear and referrals outside of our scope. We are committed to helping you rock this transition into parenthood.
How long do your clients usually book postpartum services?
Many clients book a range of services, but most commonly 6-8 weeks of postpartum care (whether it’s days, nights, or a combination of both). Our packages are fully customizable to your specific needs.
We have family coming to stay with us - are postpartum services necessary?
Having family stay with you can be a wonderful source of emotional support, but postpartum services offer specialized, up-to-date professional care tailored to your unique needs. Unlike family, a postpartum doula focuses entirely on your recovery, your baby’s care, provides objective and evidence-based information, and helps your household run smoothly. We provide expertise in lactation, newborn care, and emotional well-being, ensuring you feel supported and confident. Our services complement the help family provides, giving everyone the opportunity to focus on bonding with your new baby.
